This New Moon cycle forms very close to May Day in the feminine, earthy, fixed, and personal sign of Taurus. Heightened attunement to sights, sounds, touch, taste, are Taurus��� domain.
Taurus��� message is one of silence, stability, reverence for the physical world. Another message is giving attention to our financial affairs. Are they in order? Are there steps we can take that will support and care for our financial resources? I recently ordered The Money Class kit through PBS after watching a series with Suze Orman. Mostly I did this because of the piece she put together on Living Trust and Wills. I want to be able to update these things from my computer without having to pay to hire a lawyer everytime I do it.
Another facet of the physical world is to ask ourselves: How do we care for our body and receive and align with its messages? Taurus guides us into an ever deepening appreciation for the bodies��� sensuality and five senses. In order to really feel the warm rays of sun on our skin or to take in the delicious fragrance of a freshly bloomed rose we have to slow down a bit. One day, I took the time to go barefoot in the grasses delighting in the feel of the squishy warmth of mud between my toes. The delicious feeling that accompanied this simple act stayed with me for days, and while I was putting my shoes back on I witnessed a coyote chase a deer down the hill ! The commotion all played out just feet away from me. The deer made its getaway by jumping into the lake water (I had never seen a deer swim!) while the coyote stared in disappointment for a bit then sauntered away completely oblivious to my presence.
Taurus adores simplicity and even more important its connection to its instinctual / intuitive nature.
Taurus rules the throat and the 5th chakra. It is beneficial to place our attention on this important energy center now. One very powerful way is through chanting a mantra or through toning -- sending sound vibrations through the voice to any and all parts of our bodies for the purpose of healing. If this doesn���t appeal to you, singing in the shower or in the car will do just fine. The point is to get the energies in the voice moving and experience how it changes your state.
Dance, sensual movement, yoga, hiking in nature, swimming, are all excellent and important physical activities for the body now. Nourishing foods, ample rest (Taurus has perfected the art of naptime), being in nature or your garden, sitting in the sun, all will fortify your system for months to come.
Think of your favorite Venusian / Taurus acts of reverent living. Despite the pain and suffering in the world, we can choose to hold to the light and trust in the individual power of the prayerful act of cultivating peace. Think Taurus, The Buddha, The Gardener, The Silent One, or Mother Earth.
In ancient times, when we were an agrarian culture, The Bull was a symbol of fecundity, and the consort to the Goddess. The ancient symbol for Taurus is represented by the semi-circle (sacred feminine) above the circle of Spirit which resembles the image of the horns of the totem Bull and, again, symbolizes the strength and power of the Divine Feminine.
Although we will continue to have a very strong presence of several planets in fiery, ���just do it now��� Aries (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus) the New Moon still reigns supreme casting the overall tone for the coming cycle. Again, taking time to get really quiet and still, listen to the silence, become zero, let go and maybe even imagine yourself in a beautiful green pasture filled with wild flowers without having a care in the world. Only you and Spirit and the Bull chewing its cud.

Super Full Moon / Vernal Equinox March 19, 20, 2011
Happy Venus Day as every Friday is the day of the week ruled by the Goddess of Love and Beauty. In these karmic times, take a moment to remember Beauty in all Her forms. Notice the calming effect it has on your body when you think of the word beauty, or contemplate a beautiful creation or activity, your favorite deity or music or spot in nature. Even a brief moment of heartfelt feeling carries you. Extend this feeling of beauty to the suffering of the Japanese people and their culture, to Libya and the Middle East, to the ongoing Gulf oil crisis, to those in Haiti, New Zealand, and around the world.
We have an unprecedented line-up of astrological unpredictability and intensity this weekend setting the stage for the next few months of spring, and even the years to come. I wanted to share with you the dates for these astrological events as well as their sabian symbols so you have the information necessary to draw your own conclusions and insights.
Let���s begin with the Super Full Moon which forms Saturday, Mar 19th at 11:10 am in the sign of Virgo.
By now, you���ve probably heard of the upcoming Super Full Moon. It is Richard Nolle who coined this description in order to give a label to those times when the moon is both full and perigee (closest) to the earth. What is unique and significant to this Full Moon is that it is closer to the earth than it has been in nearly 20 years. The electro-magnetic pulls on the tectonic plates, the oceans, as well as the emotional body of human amplifies ten-fold now.
Add to the mix that this lunation occurs in the signs of Virgo and Pisces at 29 degrees. The last degree of any sign concentrates the essence of that sign. The essence of Pisces? Heartful compassion. Of Virgo? Sacred Service.
The sabian symbol for 29 of Pisces is: ���Light breaking into many colors as it passes through a prism.��� For 29 Virgo; ���A seeker after occult knowledge is reading an ancient scroll which illumines his mind.���
Ruling Pisces is the planet Neptune. Neptune is currently transiting through the last degree of Aquarius until April 4th. The sabian symbol for this degree is also potent. ���A majestic rock formation resembling a face is idealized by a boy who takes it as his ideal of greatness, and as he grows up, begins to look like it. Keynote: The power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer.���
The day after this extraordinary full moon marks the turning of the seasonal year. This is when the Sun enters the zero point of Aries on Sunday, March 20, at 4:21 pm PDT marking the Vernal Equinox. Potentized by this Super Full Moon and the extremely close proximity to the planet Uranus (planet of unexpected change) we are in for an unprecedented wild ride of change as Uranus is already inching up to a series of seven squares with Pluto (planet of death and rebirth) between now and the beginning of 2016.
Note: Uranus entered Aries on Friday, March 11, at about 4:30 pm PST, just hours following the quake and tsunami in Japan.
I���d like to remind you that this equinox harkens back to the powerful lunar eclipse we had on the winter solstice of 2010. What was going on for you at that time? It���s likely to be related to now. Equinoxes and Solstices, in and of themselves, are turning points in the years, ritualized for centuries with the intention of attuning to the spirits and ancestors in the hopes of receiving guidance for that particular season. This, too, is an extremely powerful time for ritual and prayers, for sending forth your most heartfelt intentions for healing for yourself and for the planet and then backing it up with some form of action (Aries).
To cap off the weekend, early Monday morning, the Sun makes its exact conjunction to Uranus at 5:20 am PDT at zero degrees of Aries. The sabian symbol for zero of Aries; ���A woman just risen from the sea. A seal is embracing her . . . a symbol of complete, unconditional potentiality. Keynote: Emergence of new forms and of the potentiality of consciousness.���
Concurrently, the north node of the Moon is at 28 degrees of Sagittarius conjunct the Galactic Center of the Universe. The Galactic Center is, in Stephanie Austin���s words, ���an energy source millions of times larger and denser than our Sun. It is a colossal transmitter of gamma, X-ray, and ultraviolent radiation that affects the electromagnetic field of the Earth, and all its inhabitants.��� The nodes are points in space that correlate to the Moon���s lunations. As of March 3rd the nodes shifted into Gemini / Sagittarius amplifying our beliefs that shape the stories we tell ourselves and create what we believe to be true. Many of our beliefs have been formed by traumatic events in childhood or past lives and are currently up for re-examination, healing, and release.
The sabian symbol for 28 degrees of Sagittarius is: ���An old bridge over a beautiful stream is still in constant use.��� Keynote: The enduring elements in a society which reveal its ability to significantly link the genius of its individuals to the everyday needs of the collectivity.���
We have never experienced a Spring Equinox of this magnitude. With the astrological signatures in place as they are, even more change is imminent both personally and on a global level.
A beautiful synthesis of Pisces and Virgo would be to choose to bow to adversity with reverence and humility while getting on with the business of preparing and strengthening ourselves for the worst while holding on to the light, to love, to Beauty in all Her forms trusting that others will follow suit (or not) in their own time. Who knows how things can shift as a result?

Uranus enters Aries.

When a terrifying 8.9 earthquake struck the Northeastern coast of Japan early this morning, what followed was a massive tsunami with waves reported as high as 30 feet, wiping out coast side properties and killing hundreds, if not thousands, of people. The island of Hawaii and the entire west coast has braced itself for the tsunami aftermath. Warnings have gone out to South America, Canada, and Alaska. I just learned two photo journalists off the coast of Oregon were swept away to sea in their attempts to photograph the waves. There are reports of property damage in Santa Cruz, and I imagine the evening news will have much to report on other places and people along the coast that have been similarly impacted.
As an Astrologer, I regularly attune to the shifts in the astrological weather, and today marks the last day that Uranus -- in the very last degree of the oceanic sign of Pisces --completes its seven year sojourn through this sign. (This is the last degree of 360 degrees of the entire zodiac, hence the significance!) Pisces is the sign associated with oneness and compassion, where Uranus rules the sudden and unexpected. So, here we are, once again, called to extend our heartful prayers, blessings, and financial contributions to the people of Japan, and all over the world for that matter. This is our opportunity to open our hearts to the sea of humanity at yet another time of great suffering on a grand scale. At the same time, it���s sobering to think we don���t know when the very same thing could happen to us here in the Bay Area.
Tuesday, March 8th, marked International Women���s Day. I listened as Michelle Obama offered the following quote (source unknown) during a speech she was giving in honor of the brave women who have made significant contributions to our world. She said, ���Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is the mastery of fear.���
And so, we can begin to contemplate and practice what these words mean to us over the next seven years as Uranus enters Aries, today, 3/11/11, at 4:35 pm. We begin a new cycle characterized by individuation, getting out of our safety zones and doing the bold and scary thing, whatever that is for each on of us. We all have some thing we���d like to act on or commit to but keep putting it on the back burner. Remember the book ���Feel the Fear But Do It Anyway?��� by Susan Jeffers? I predict that book will be of renewed interest to people (or books like it) in the years to come. If you really want to go for it, however, visit D.R. Uranus is an interesting planet. Did you know it literally orbits the sun spinning on its side as opposed to spinning vertically like the other planets in our solar system? This gives it its maverick-ness, if you will. One-of-a-kind by nature. And, you can pronounce it one of three ways:
1. Yur-uh-ness (emphasizing the first syllable) or
2. Yur-ahh-ness (with 2nd syllable emphasized) or
3. Yur-ay-ness (emphasize the second syllable and it���ll probably get you a good laugh! )
I once heard Steven Forrest give a fascinating lecture on the planet Uranus. Of the many things he said, what stuck with me all these years has become the essential Uranus teaching for me. If you want to answer the call of Uranus (without getting hit over the head with a 2 x 4 ) embrace your inner ���wyrdness���; the part of you that walks to the beat of your own drum. Steven said the celtic word ���wyrd��� literally means ���connected to God���, so it seems to me if we are going to follow our uniqueness (Uranus) as it transits through Aries, we���re being called us to summon up every ounce of courage (Aries / Mars). Courage is different for everyone. It takes a tremendous amount of courage for me to write this, edit it, then push the ���send��� button, let me tell you. For someone else, it���s jumping out of the plane in order to sky dive, or receiving support and assistance during a health crisis, or the courage to take care of yourself so you have something of value to give when needed. The levels of expression are endless.

Solar Flare Activity Increasing

My amazing teacher / astrologer, Stephanie Austin, circulated the following which I, in turn, am passing along to you as it coincides with this full moon and the days, months, years to come. I learned in November of 2009 that solar flare activity would dramatically be on the increase, and here we are.
"We are experiencing profoundly transformative effects from several recent solar flares, the strongest in 4 years, with more to come. According to Phil Chamberlin at NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory: "This is the first of probably many more X-class flare to occur over the next 2 to 4 years, as we reach the peak and then descend back down from solar cycle 24 maximum." From the Hathors, via Tom Kenyon: "Your Sun, the solar star of your planetary system, is increasing its energetic potential and is entering a period of increased volatility, solar flares and magnetic storms. While these actions will create real problems for you in terms of your telecommunications and weather patterns, there is also an immense evolutionary potential within this solar activity..." This Full Moon in Leo / Aquarius

Dear Friends,
The next full moon forms 36 seconds after the stroke of midnight this Friday, February 18th, at the 29th degrees of Leo and Aquarius. A full moon is when the sun and the moon are in direct opposition to one another. Oppositions call for balancing and harmonizing two complimentary but very different energies. Traditionally, the 29th degree of any sign in astrology is considered to be a ���critical��� degree where the energy is concentrated and very powerful before it changes into the next sign. This full moon wants our attention being the fifth of five consecutive full moons in the 29th degree of a sign since October of 2010.
With the Sun at 29 degrees of Aquarius opposing 29 degree Moon in Leo, this full moon closely conjuncts Chiron freshly ingressed into the sign of Pisces (Feb 8, 2011 ��� Apr 17, 2018) and emphasizing the wounded healer archetype. At this time, we have the opportunity to heal an aspect of our lives, to identify and let go of some wound we still carry, and to do so with compassion and forgiveness. Perhaps you are already feeling it. Full moons as powerful as this one are usually felt several days before and after.
It���s likely that in healing this wound, we will feel more energized to express that which has heart and meaning for us (Leo) to the groups, communities, the world we find ourselves in (Aquarius). Humanity (Aquarius) needs our special talents (Leo) more than ever. What are your gifts and talents? Only you can express in the way you express. You are unique, a true original in your expression. Watch the movie A Field of Dreams to get inspired to ���build it and they will come.���
And, don���t forget to include the unseen world in your process. Prayers, blessings, building an altar to your intention(s) or goals, chanting or meditating at least once a week in a group setting, all hold tremendous power towards our feeling of upliftment and healing. Nurturing gratitude and contentment by remembering what we are thankful for is its own boon.
The same day this Full Moon forms, the Sun shifts into the imaginative sign of Pisces (until the Spring Equinox in mid-March.) Pisces is symbolized by two fishes, one swimming upstream, the other down stream.
The fish swimming downstream teaches surrender, letting go to a higher power of our understanding. It is a time to humbly ask for guidance for the new cycle, to tune into our dreams, meditations, and retreat from wordly endeavors to the degree that we can. This aspect of Pisces teaches that a little effort towards daily contact with the Divine can go a long way towards reclaiming our soul essence and receiving mystical guidance for the year to come.
If we are more inclined to ���go it alone��� or ���fight the current��� then we are more identified with the fish swimming upstream caught in a cycle of frustration, anxiety, and depression, prone to addictions and vulnerable to being taken advantage of.
We all have Pisces somewhere in our chart, and this archetype will be further accentuated when the New Moon forms in Pisces on March 4th.
