I first became fascinated with astrology in 1972, at the age of twelve, when my mother took classes and would bring home astrology books by Dane Rudhyar, Stephen Arroyo, Robert Hand, Linda Goodman and Isabel Hickey all of which I'd read over and over and over again. I couldn't get enough! It was my greatest passion along with music. In middle school and high school, I'd doodle the symbols in the margins of my binder paper and knew the birthdates of all my friend -- many of whom would want to know about their horoscope -- and so I'd talk about it with them.
In 1987, at the same time I met a meditation teacher and began spiritual practices, I sought formal training in astrology taking classes at Astrology Institute West. This rigorous four year program earned me a Certificate in Astrological Counselin so that I could feel confidant enough to begin seeing clients professionally in 1993. Since that time I have continued to participate in astrological education including NORWAC, Steven Forrest's Apprenticeship Program (2000 and 2002) and numerous other astrological workshops including astro-cartography classes with the late Jim Lewis.
I also holds degrees in music (both BA and MA) emphasizing vocal performance. I has performed opera, classical, jazz, and studied raga, sanskrit chant, and healing through toning. I am a Second Degree Reiki Practitioner, and I have a certificate in chakra energy systems having studied with Tamara Diaghilev, PhD from 1997 - 2000. In 2011, I completed the Basics 1 training in Ho'oponopono with Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, PhD and have been trained as a Crystalline Consciousness Work Facilitator, clearing the energy field, balancing and harmonizing the seven primary chakras, and bringing in the 90 strands of DNA available to us at this time.
I have been married for 27 years to sculpture / art profession Clayton Thiel (www.claytonthiel.com). Together, we have two beautiful grown daughters, and are grandparents to two darling little boys. My interests include a daily meditation and chanting practice, a passion for symbol study, writing, and working with crystal skulls.
I currently reside in San Leandro, California.
