The nodes are points in space that relate to our souls' evolutionary journey in this lifetime.
Our south node by sign, by house and through the various aspects of the planets tells the story of our evolutionary past. Although we can't know exactly what specific set of circumstances we experienced in a past life, we do carry over into this lifetime a cellular memory of the feeling of it. The south node of the moon speaks to the gifts and talents that we have mastered over lifetimes of practice but it mostly symbolizes past tendencies, habits and sets of behaviors we incarnated with that are so familiar and comfortable to us that they tend to keep us stuck in the karmic past. Karma being those habitual behaviors that we repeat time and time again.
The remedy is provided through the north node which represents our spiritual frontier. Steven Forrest says, "The north node is nothing but a good idea". In other words, it's up to us to learn about and become aware of our north node by sign and by house. Then, we must consciously embrace the north node as awkward and unfamiliar as it may feel to do so. No one else can make us do this. It's completely up to us. Since the north node symbolizes our evolutionary journey into who we are becoming, the gift, when we cultivate and follow the messages of the north node, is a more complete and wholesome connection to our authentic self.
In this workshop, participants will learn interpretative guidelines (keywords and phrases) for the south and north nodes in each of the signs and houses. Each will learn about her own south and north nodes and leave the class with inspiring insights to apply to ones' life and to learn from others' charts as well.

The Power of the Ascendant (or Rising Sign)
2.5-hour workshop.
In astrology, the exact time of your birth is matters. In fact, horoscope, a term that is used synonymously with the birth chart, literally means the "chart of the hour."
The power of our rising sign becomes more apparent when we realize we were breathing in a particular zodiacal energy at the time of birth. What is the nature of the zodiac sign we first breathed into? How does that impact the way we approach life experience? The degree of the Ascendant's sign gives us even more information as we discover how the houses of the birthchart were aligned for us. It is through this alignment that we discover which stage of life the psychological parts of ourselves (represented by the planets) have "signed up" to experience and play out. Remember, the planets are actors, the signs are costumes and the houses the stages.
The Ascendant is quite literally a filter for the entire chart. It is your persona—the most personal part of who you are and it is the mask necessary for you to wear in order to be most centered in your choices and self-expression during this lifetime. Think of the Ascendant as the ambassador or representative for all the other parts of your chart and you're on the right track!
